Spring Snow Brings Much Needed Moisture

The recent storm brought a great amount of snow to our area. Of course, the initial thought is that someone has to plow that snow, especially at Purgatory! But, as we think about all of the positives, we realize we are so blessed to have gotten this last storm.

According to Durango Mountain Resort’s website, they have received 27 new inches of snow just since March started! What a great way to start the month! With spring break on the horizon for so many, it allows excellent spring ski conditions. In fact, this may be the best time of the year to ski. The warmer weather makes the days outside perfect. For those traveling to Durango for spring break, as well as locals, it’s an ideal time to experience Durango skiing.
Of course, other outdoor winter activities are still great options. Snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and even building snowmen are all great ways to enjoy the snow brought by the recent storm.
In addition to the benefits for skiing, we are always so grateful that heavy snowfalls mean water to combat the drought. Any amount of snow we get translates to less dry areas as we enter the summertime. We know when the high mountains receive snowfall; the Animas will bring some of that moisture through town.
All around, this recent storm was great news for our area. We hope you enjoy the end of this winter season and the fresh powder that goes along with it!
